White Rock Lake

White Rock Lake

White Rock Lake- This stunning lake, which is actually a reservoir and managed by PG&E, is a great starting point to reach Mnt. Lola from the west end, and hike for days on the Pacific Crest Trail. Camping is allowed around the Lake and swimming or paddle boarding is highly encouraged. The views are breathtaking.

*On many maps it shows that there is a trail from Paradise Lake to Warren Lake, please do not attempt this trail, it does not exist. This trail is way overgrown and extremely hard to follow. Please bring a gps unit and a map.

Difficulty– Moderate, this is a driving route all the way to the lake. PCT trail can be strenuous at times due to elevation and distance.

Directions– From Truckee, the drive will take 1hr 40min to 2 hours to arrive. Take 89 north from Truckee for 14.5 miles, turning left onto USFS Road 07, also known as Jackson Meadows Road. Turn onto Henness Pass Road/ FS road 0720, continue straight at the intersection, you will pass the PCT twice before getting to White Rock Lake.*The road to get here is rough and bumpy. We suggest having a 4×4 high clearance vehicle.*
