Painted Rock Trail

Painted Rock Trail-

This stunning trail 4 mile trail, starts off the PCT near Tinkers Knob and is near the head waters of the North Fork of the American River.  Bikes are not permitted on this trail. The other end of the trail is located in a private community known as the Cedars, in Soda Springs. 

Difficulty– Hard, due to elevation gain/lose and hiking distance. 

Directions– I-80, turn on Soda Springs exit, head left and follow signs to to Royal Gorge ski area, cross the railroad tracks. Continue straight passing Serene Lakes. Follow the gravel road down hill, you will pass through private property and will eventually end up in the private community of The Cedars. Parking is not permitted along the neighborhood roads so a shuttle or drop off will need to be arranged. 

You may also access the upper portion of this trail via the PCT, the spur can be tricky to see.
