Happy Face Loop

Happy Face Loop

Trail Description.
A 4 mile loop that offers a gentle climb to the scenic top of Bald Mountain. Much of the old trail was decommissioned in 2021 because it was steep, eroding, and unsustainable. The new 1-way directional trail starts across from the Sawtooth Parking/ Host campsite. It shares the beginning stretch with the Timber Cruise Trail and quickly veers off to the left as you begin your ascend to the top. A mellow long non-technical climb takes you to the top of Bald Mountain. The downhill section is fast and flowy and offers multiple jumps, berms, and a whole lotta fun.

Difficulty. Moderate, due to loose soil, rocks, features. Dirt bikers do use this trail at higher speeds.

Directions to Trailhead. This trail starts off the 06 road across from the Sawtooth Trailhead Host spot. Follow the signs that say Happy Face Trail to Bald Mountain. In about ½ mile, you’ll want to look for a spur trail to the left. Follow the signs leading you in a counter clockwise direction.
