Our partner, the Town of Truckee and Tahoe Adventure Company are hosting the Full Moon Hike this weekend for just $5 per person. In celebration of the Dark Skies Movement, the Town of Truckee is encouraging everyone to preserve the natural beauty of the night sky by turning out any unnecessary lights after dark. To kick off the effort – the Town of Truckee is hosting two full moon hikes with the help of Tahoe Adventure Company.

The fairly easy hike up Donner Summit is good for anyone 8 years old and up. Along the way, guides will talk about the fascinating local natural and human history, along with full moon and astronomy fun facts. Once you reach Donner Summit, you’ll be treated to stunning views of the Full Hunter Moon as it rises above Donner Lake. The hike is normally a $90 value but the Town of Truckee has a special arrangement for a $5 fee to help cover gratuity for the guide.
