Out on the Trails

2023 Ambassador Program is a Wrap

The Truckee Trails Ambassador program, now in its third season, is becoming an integral part of the regional paved and dirt trail network in Truckee. Hiking and biking the trails during peak usage periods, the team is all about customer service as they meet and help trail users, report on trail conditions to the Truckee Trails field crew, keep an eye out for wildfires, and remove illegal campfires. Ambassadors are on the trails from late spring/early summer to the end of September.

The 2023 Ambassadors include Caitlin Becker, Charlotte Gross, John Drum, and part-timer (and returning 2022 alum) Jenna Elliott. Collectively these ambassadors:

  • Hiked or rode 1,149 miles.
  • Worked 470 hours while covering 25 trails, several fire roads, and the Donner Lake area.
  • Reported helping trail users with a range of services including fixing flat tires, providing extra drinking water, giving directions, and educating users on trail etiquette. And, our Ambassadors all have Wilderness First Aid training, too – just in case.

A big success in 2023, the Truckee Trails Ambassador program will return in 2024. Anyone interested in getting involved as a (paid) Ambassador next year can reach out to Truckee Trails at info@truckeetrails.org.
