It's been a long time coming and at times we weren't sure we'd ever get to this point. But we are SO thrilled to announce that the Pines to Mines Trail - an epic 72-miles of singletrack promising long-distance adventures for hikers, backpackers, mountain bikers, trail runners, and equestrians -- is ready for construction!Truckee Trails Foundation would like to thank our partners in this project, who have helped get us nail down the alignment and get us through the NEPA process: Bear Yuba Land Trust, Bicyclists of Nevada County, County of Nevada, Truckee Donner Land Trust, and of course the United States Forest Service. The Gold Country Trails Council has also been involved in this effort. Last but in no way least, huge thanks to former Nevada County Supervisor Richard Anderson who introduced this vision of a trail connecting our beautiful county years ago and has been one of our biggest cheerleaders.

More importantly, with your support, our success over the years has enabled us to now seek even bigger goals for our community.

Here at TTF, 2023 has been another great year. Our results include three miles of new trail built; over 80 miles of trail maintained; 192 downed trees removed from trails; 3,400 bikes parked at our seasonal bike valet (and 675 gallons of gas saved by customers!); over 1,100 miles hiked and ridden by TTF Trail Ambassadors; and, over 400 volunteer trail building and maintenance hours. What's more, we plan to have over 22 miles of new trail ready for construction in 2024. This includes work on the long-awaited Pines to Mines Trail connecting Truckee with Nevada City. But we rely on you to help us make this possible.

The Nevada County Transportation Commission (NCTC), in coordination with the Town of Truckee, would like your input to help shape the transportation vision for the region. You can get involved by using the interactive tool (provided by the NCTC) to read dozens of comments and issues posted by other community members, and to add your own input. Simply click on Add Comment, reposition the marker to the map location (ex. street intersection, paved path, or bike lane) and type in your comment or suggestion.

This past week Truckee Trails partnered with Donner Trail Elementary School for a hands-on trail-building and education experience. Over 60 children heard from Truckee Trails about designing and constructing sustainable trails that reduce erosion and resist the impacts of trail use and seasonal snow and water damage.
