2022 Truckee Trails Foundation Recap

2022 Truckee Trails Foundation Recap

Thanks to all of our generous supporters and donors Truckee Trails Foundation achieved so much in 2022.

We proudly:

  • Built Truckee/Tahoe’s first adaptive mountain bike skills loop, the Compass Skills Loop
  • Built a five-mile trail in Martis Valley’s Waddle Ranch (ribbon cutting and name release to happen in spring 2023)
  • Revamped the Woodsplitter Jump Trail, adding new jump and agility features while making it even more safe
  • Constructed a 1.6 mile connector trail from Happy Face to Schaffer’s Mill
  • Finished environmental studies for the Pines to Mines Trail which would connect Truckee with Nevada City
  • Maintained over 100 miles of trail
  • Managed the Sustainable Truckee bike valet program at Music in the Park and Truckee Thursdays. At times we valeted over 150 bicycles to help get cars off the road and reduce our community’s collective carbon footprint
  • Managed the Sustainable Truckee Ambassador Program where paid and volunteer ambassadors walked or rode popular local trails to help protect our community from wildfire danger while educating trail users about how to recreate responsibly

TTF was instrumental in getting Measure U on the June ballot (a sales tax which will result in an estimated $3 million per year for paved bike paths, dirt trails, and trail maintenance) and worked hard to assure this critical measure passed.

We were also awarded the Chamber of Commerce’s Truckee Business Stewardship Award and celebrated our 20th anniversary —a milestone we’re proud to reach!

We have plans, big plans, for 2023 and look forward to bringing our community a continuing, world-class trail network.
