Good Dirty Fun!

This program was a smash last year and we are back for more.   Truckee Trails in partnership with the Truckee Donner Land Trust and US Forest Service uses this program to maintain our area’s dirt trails throughout the summer. The goal of this effort is to ensure our local earthen trails are safe, sustainable, and environmentally friendly.  We schedule trail building and maintenance events throughout the summer and fall.  All volunteers receive a free Good Dirty Fun t-shirt, and their own personal hard hat if they volunteer for more than one session.  Please check our Event Calendar for dates and more information.  http://truckeetrails.org/get-involved/event-schedule/

Trail Exploration Series

Come join the Truckee Trails Foundation as we discover the joys of trails around Truckee!   Trail explorations for summer 2011 include:

  • Sunday, July 10 — Natural History/Wildflower Hike
  • Sunday, July 17 — Gentle Mountain Bike Ride
  • Saturday, July 23 — Bird Hike, led by the Tahoe Institute of Natural Science, http://tinsweb.org/

Safe Streets

Our overall Safe Streets goal is to see the greater Truckee region transformed into a pedestrian-safe and bike-friendly community through completion of a viable network of on- and off-street trails and bikeways that connect our neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, and favorite outdoor haunts. TTF’s major Safe Streets projects include the following:

  • Brockway Road/Martis Valley Corridor
As a partner in the purchase of a trail easement along the Ponderosa Golf Course’s Brockway Road frontage, TTF is working to complete a new paved trail from the Regional Park to the Rock/PC-3, with long-term plans for connections to the River View Sports Park and Martis Valley.
  • Truckee River Legacy Trail
We are working with the Legacy Trail Foundation, the Town, and others to secure appropriate alignments, necessary easements, grant funds and public financing options for a paved trail to Glenshire.
  • Martis Valley Regional Trail
We are a partner in this endeavor to build a Class 1 trail through Martis Valley to Northstar, and eventually to Lake Tahoe.
