Wildflowers in Abundance
The trail up Negro Canyon and on towards Summit Lake is brimming with wildflowers and butterflies. Perfect weather, snow capped mountain views, Donner Lake views, no bugs. How lucky are we to live here! There’s even a couple streams still flowing so the dog can get a drink along the way.
- Field of wildflowers
- Mules ears and snowy mountains
The trail is accessed at the Donner Lake Interchange . Park in the lot north of the freeway and the trailhead is a little past the green gate to the right. It’s about a mile up the trail to the Donner Lake Rim Trail, then head west towards Summit Lake.
